About the author: Liza Ovington, PhD, CWS, FACCWS, FAPWCA
Liza holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Duke University. She is board certified in wound care by the American Board of Wound Management and is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Wound Specialists. She also holds a certification in medical writing from the American Medical Writers Association. Liza led product development teams in consumer and professional wound care at Johnson & Johnson. She has clinical experience in wound management from her experiences in leading specialty wound teams in home healthcare and in clinical and preclinical wound healing research from her faculty role at the University Of Miami School Of Medicine.
After attending this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the differences between acute and chronic wounds.
- Describe the three most common types of chronic wounds.
- Identify the most common anatomical locations for each type of chronic wound.
- Discuss the key factors contributing to each type of chronic wound.
- List three critical goals in managing chronic wounds in the clinical setting and rehabilitation setting.
Course Completion Requirements: This course is in a written format, and your certificate will be available for download immediately after successful completion of the post-test and evaluation. A score of 80% or greater is required to pass, and you may re-take the post-test if needed up to 3 times.
